A useful shortlist begins with how you actually sleep: primary position, approximate body weight, whether you share the bed, whether you tend to sleep hot, and whether you prefer a close-contouring or springier surface. Those variables usually matter more than marketing labels.

Cooling is a system, not one fabric

Look at the whole mattress. Coil cores generally allow more air movement than solid foam cores, while thick contouring foam can reduce airflow around the body. Breathable covers, perforations and phase-change or conductive materials may help, but room temperature, bedding and how deeply you sink also matter.
