What edge support affects

Strong edges can make a mattress feel larger because more of the surface is usable. They can also make sitting or getting out of bed easier. Hybrids may reinforce the coil perimeter; foam beds may use firmer perimeter foam. Neither method guarantees performance by itself.

Questions to ask before you buy

  • Does the firmness make sense for my primary sleep position and body weight?
  • Will the construction fit my preference for contouring versus responsiveness?
  • Are temperature and partner movement important enough to change the construction I choose?
  • What foundation does the manufacturer require?
  • What are the current trial, return-fee and warranty terms?

A sensible next step
